ABOUT NATIONAL SWE

The Society of Women Engineers was founded in 1950. That year, they adopted four main objectives by which they maintain to this day.

  1. Inform young women, their parents, counselors, and the general public, of the qualifications and achievements of women engineers and the opportunities open to them.
  2. Assist women in readying themselves to return to work after temporary retirement.
  3. Serve as a center of information on women in engineering.
  4. Encourage women engineers to attain high levels of education and professional achievement.

SWE is the driving force that establishes engineering as a highly desirable career aspiration of women. SWE empowers women to succeed and advance in those aspirations and be recognized for their life-changing contributions and achievements as engineers and leaders.
